Doc: Food, Inc.

Food, Inc. is a real eye-opener.  This doc explores the food industry's detrimental effects on our health and environment.

I got my first taste of Monsanto (a.k.a Roundup) with this one and I proclaim that I officially hate this company!  If you’re not familiar with Monsanto, you owe it to your health and local, small farmers to get informed.

"Featuring interviews with such experts as Eric Schlosser (Fast Food Nation), Michael Pollan (The Omnivore's Dilemma, In Defense of Food: An Eater's Manifesto) along with forward thinking social entrepreneurs like Stonyfield's Gary Hirshberg and Polyface Farms' Joel Salatin, Food, Inc. reveals surprising—and often shocking truths—about what we eat, how it's produced, who we have become as a nation and where we are going from here."

Definitely check this doc out!

  1. I Love, Love, Love this documentary!!! Do you know of anything by Joel Salatin? He is the model we follow for our farm. I tried to find a blog or web site but could not find it.

  2. Hi Mary!

I have not heard of Joel Salatin, but I wonder if this is the blog you are trying to find:

  3. Thanks so much for finding the Polyface site for me. I really appreciate you finding it!! I'm adding it to my blog links.

Looks like you have a nice selection and quality items. Thanks for supporting that farmer and all he is doing to keep a farm in this day and age. It's not easy.

  4. Thanks Mary! I'm digging reading about life on Maple View Farm as well! Good luck this season!
